My 3rd TAMiversary

My 3rd TAMiversary

It is my three year TAMiversary! Wow! A little more than three years ago I had changed my diet and was doing some old exercise DVDs, but I was super bored with them and not seeing results very fast. While reading trashy celebrity gossip online one day (yes, trashy celebrity gossip is unfortunately one of my vices), I read that one famous celebrity had lost the weight from her recent baby using the Tracy Anderson Method. My interest was piqued and a short search later I was watching the TAM infomercial.

That’s how my love affair with the Tracy Anderson Method began, and the rest is history. Yes, three years later I still love it, though I must admit sometimes our relationship has been a little rocky.

I tend to be the eternal optimist. I just feel that no matter what happens, there has to be a good reason, or the bad times never last all that long, and we’ll find a way through. I’d rather talk about the good side of things than the bad. I’ve been rather optimistic about my TAM thus far, but I must confess that I have been a capital S slacker. Well, I can’t really say I’ve been a slacker overall, I have been working my little tail off at my work and with all my other projects! But between all that work, the holidays, sick kids, and a sick me, there were weeks in December that I only worked out twice, and one week I didn’t even exercise at all! So when it comes to TAM, I’ve definitely been a total slacker.

The number on the scale hasn’t budged, but I feel floppy. Now, if you had told me 3 years ago that I would look this way, I would have been thrilled! I am very pleased with how much better I look now. And yet, I still want to get better, to improve. Is that bad? I don’t think so. I hope not!

Even though I’ve been doing this for 3 years, between missing days and me not ordering the next Continuity DVDs in time (oops), I’m still in the middle of year 2. In fact, right now I’m repeating some of the early Continuity levels.

Even with all of this, I still am so happy with the Tracy Anderson Method! I feel so good when I do it, and when I’m consistent, the results are great! I’m also still in love with the fact that I don’t get bored because the content changes so often.

TAMiversary 3

(Disclaimer: That picture is staged. I normally exercise too early for any photographers to be available to take my picture. As it is, my 4-year-old became my photographer, and mixed in with the hundreds of blurry shots, there was this one half decent shot. Oh well, it is what it is!)

I’ve stepped up my game and am back to 4-5 times per week. I am already feeling better! In this next few months life is going to get less busy, and I plan on getting back to a minimum of 5 days a week soon. With this I’m positive the floppiness will go away, plus I just love the way I feel the days that I exercise!

Have you tried the Tracy Anderson Method? What do you think?

P.S. If you have been wanting to try some of Tracy’s stuff, these two DVDs are a great deal, only about $7-$8 right now!

And this is Metamorphosis, the one I started with:

You can read lots more about my love of all things Tracy Anderson on this page.

Tangent: After taking pics of me doing my TAM, my photographer started instructing me in yoga poses to do for her, so here’s an outtake for you. I can finally do a crow pose!

  1. So cute that your 4 year old photographed for you! Happy 3 year TAMiversary! That’s so awesome to stick with it for so long. I have completely fallen out of practice and although I’ve been working out still, I miss my TAM.

    1. It’s easy to fall out of practice, isn’t it? But great that you are still working out!Better to be doing something, right? And thanks, she was actually pretty adorable. “Do this Mom, and do this Mom.” She makes me laugh!

  2. I was wondering about your journey with the TAM dance routines. That is where she loses me. What was the process for you like?

    1. Oh, good question! When I first started Metamorphosis, I did the dance cardio that came with it. It sounds like you have probably tried it, but just in case you haven’t (and for anyone else wondering), it is very freestyle, just dancing around doing weird stuff, not really too many repeated moves or routine at all. I did it religiously with Meta because I wanted to make sure I got the best results possible. I did the same with the cardio that came with the first round of Continuity.

I have a love/hate relationship with the cardio, and what I use now really depends on my mood. I have actually really grown to like the freestyle kind of dance cardio that keeps coming with the Continuity, although some I like a lot more than others. I think the one that came with the first round of Continuity is my favorite, that’s the one I use the most often.

When I feel more like doing the choreographed dance cardio, I use this one that I bought off of Amazon: http://amzn.to/1Fk7ceF

This one is also going to be mine very, very soon: http://amzn.to/1cLmzTx

There are a few things that you can do that seem to help with the cardio, because you are definitely not alone! I’ve heard from so many people that the cardio part is hard for them. The first thing that seems to help is to just stick it out, the longer you do it, the more you learn to like it. For me, having a variety of different cardio options to choose from that are all still Tracy approved really seems to help. Also, make sure to use your own music! Oh, I super, super hate the music that it comes with, but most of them have the option to do voice only, or you can always just mute the TV. I am always putting together new playlists and I try to find music that really makes me want to get up and dance. I think this is probably the biggest thing you can do to help, the right music really makes it feel more like just dancing for fun, and less like working out.

Does that help? Any other questions?

  3. What do you think the secret is to her actual dance cardio? I love Tracy and her method has done wonders for my body, including the dance cardio. But for variety I tried Shine Dance fitness this year, and it’s so much fun. I’m trying to blend both together. . .there is something very unique about Tracy’s cardio though. It bugs me that I haven’t been able to quite figure out the secret, lol.

    1. Oh, my goodness, this is such a good question! I’m not sure what it is, but I do know that it works. I’ve thought many times that I love her cardio because it’s so jumpy. There is something that feels so good about defying gravity a bit, and I wonder if that has something to do with it. Good observation!
