Cutting Processed Foods
Beans, Nuts, Seeds
Beans, beans, the magical fruit. The more you eat, the more… healthy you are.
(Sorry, sometimes I turn back into a kid with a 12-year-old sense of humor)
Beans are one of my most favorite foods ever. They are dirt cheap, they stay good forever, and they are one of the most nutrition-packed foods on the planet.
Beans really are a magical food!
Load up on beans in healthy, homemade chili, soups, bean salads, and my favorite, hummus. Quite often I’ll eat veggies dipped in hummus as my entire lunch.
A serving of beans is about 1/2 cup cooked.
Nuts and seeds are also pretty amazing nutrition-packed foods. With nuts and seeds be careful to check the ingredients, as they are quite often roasted in some kind of vegetable oil. There will be another lesson all about oils, but for this lesson just know that these oils should be avoided at all costs. It’s always better to buy your nuts and seeds raw and roast them yourself.
A serving of nuts is about 1/2 cup, or about 2 tablespoons of nut/seed butter.
