Wednesday Real Food Recipe – Chicken Shawarma Pita with Tahini Garlic Sauce

If you were to check out my Pinterest boards, you would find quite a few pins from The Lemon Bowl. Liz is also a girl who has also lost a lot of weight, all while eating delicious food. She has so many great recipes that I found it really hard to narrow it down to just one, but this one really caught my eye.

And here is where I show off what a complete geek I am. Have you seen that bit in the Avengers, the part near the end when Iron Man just crashed to the earth and everyone thought he was dead, but then he can’t stop talking about Shawarma? I’ve wanted to try it ever since, so when I saw the title of this recipe I immediately knew we had to have it on the menu. Marquis is much more hesitant to try new things than I am, but he smiled at this one (the geeky boy knows the reference, of course) and agreed to give it a try.

This ended up being dinner last night, and yum! I really loved this. I started it marinading the night before because I knew that yesterday was going to be a crazy day. It was really simple to quickly cook the chicken while I chopped some veggies when we got home. The only thing I changed in the recipe was that I used full-fat yogurt (homemade, of course).

The big test with a new recipe that is outside our norm is whether or not Marquis wants me to make it again. As we were finishing our last bites I asked him, “So, what do you think?” In typical verbose Marquis style he said, “Good.”  When I asked if it was a do-over, he smiled and said, “Yeah.”

Success!

Go check out the recipe on The Lemon Bowl, and stick around to see all the other yummy things she has going on.
