Workout Songs I’m Digging Right Now

Is it just me, or are there suddenly a bunch of really fun songs coming out? The right music can really help you have a great workout, and lately these songs have been showing up a lot in my playlist.

First up, It’s All About That Base by Meghan Trainor. The first time I saw this video I thought it was a snarky joke, but then about a minute in I decided that I didn’t care if it was a joke or not, it was fun! I also love the message. Yes, of course I absolutely believe we should take care of our bodies and eat healthy things and exercise, but I also believe fully in loving who we are, no matter our size! I also love the line, “If that’s not what you’re into, then go ahead and move along.” I think if more women would use that line, the men in this world would step up their game. Plus, it’s got a good beat, so it’s fun to dance to!

Next up, here’s where I admit something a little embarrassing. I just love Taylor Swift! No, I’m not a 12-year-old, and no I don’t listen to country music, but Taylor Swift is really more pop than country, right? Either way, I’m obsessed with her new song! This song is a great reminder that there will be people that don’t understand you and will give you a hard time for it, but you don’t have to let them get under your skin. I also adore that she isn’t afraid to make fun of herself and admit that she is not that great of a dancer, and is going to shake anyway! Makes me feel better because while dance cardio is my preferred form of exercise, I am really a terrible dancer! Just awful, but I love it so I’m just going to keep shaking. Plus, did you know that Taylor Swift is a fan of the Tracy Anderson Method, too? See? It’s like we’re best friends! Love that girl.

This last song is slow, so it’s a good one to save for some stretching music at the end of your workout. And it has such a good message! In fact, all these songs seem to have the same message. Now that I’m in my mid-30s, I’m finding that I care less and less what other people think of me, and I find myself adoring songs that promote that same idea.

What’s on your playlist? Any songs you can’t get enough of lately?
