Yes, you can afford a health coach, here’s how!

Yes you can afford a health coach here is how www.thatswhatieat.com

Once upon a time, I decided to get healthy. Marquis and I had no free money to dedicate to the cause, but I was determined to make it work, one way or another. We slowly figured out how to make healthier choices at the grocery store while still working with the same monthly budget. Then I found the Tracy Anderson Method, and desperately wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, the budget didn’t allow for it.

I’ve never been one to take no for an answer, and I can usually find a way to get the things that I want. So I sat down and figured out just what I would be giving up if I decided to be healthy, and I knew that my beloved Dt. Coke addiction had to go. As I got looking at how much we bought and the usual cost, I realized that we were spending somewhere between $30 and $50 per month on the sauce. Cutting Dt. Coke would give me more than I needed to fund my new favorite exercise program.

I tell you this to illustrate a point. When you really want something, you can find a way! Hiring a health coach is a fantastic way to reach your health and wellness goals. If you really want to get healthy, it is possible to find a way to re-prioritize your spending and get signed up for that health coaching program.

Here are a few ideas to meet that goal:

  • Changing the types of food you eat and eating out less saves you money. I am going to encourage lots and lots and lots of home cooking. Home cooking costs way less than eating out, so if you eat out even once a week right now, this one step alone will make up for the cost of a coach.
  • Is there something else you can cut? I didn’t think spending $1-$2 dollars daily on refilling my Dt. Coke was a big deal, but it really would add up! Can you make your coffee at home instead of your daily Starbucks run? How much are you spending on candy or treats? What else can you cut that really isn’t that great for you anyway?
  • You may be able to get off some medications. As we have changed our Blister package of supplementsdiets, Marquis has been able to get off a few of his different chronic medications. That alone has saved us $60 to $100 per month! As your health improves, you may be able to work with your doctor and get off some of your medications, too!
  • Did you know that in some cases you can use your flex spending/cafeteria funds for health coaching? We adore our flex spending account and use it for all kinds of things like contact lenses, medications, etc. It’s wonderful to be able to get those things tax free! Contact your flex spending provider to find out more. I believe it falls under the individual counseling bracket, but they will be able to tell you more.
  • Lower medical/dental bills. Food is the best medicine, right? If you are getting iStock_000022368039Largehealthier and eating right, that will help you need the doctor less and less. A good diet also means better health for your teeth, helping you have fewer cavities. Nice!

You are worth making your health a priority! What can you do to reprioritize your spending and meet your health and wellness goals?

    1. It’s so true! It means more and is harder to give up on when you have invested money in it, which is another part of why it helps make you successful. Thank you for pointing that out!
